Edwards scores 24 as Blackhawks fall to Northeast Dubois

The Springs Valley boys’ basketball team continued rivalry weekend on Saturday, hosting Northeast Dubois. Though the Blackhawks held a 35-31 lead at halftime thanks to a 26-point outburst in the second quarter, they’d ultimately fall to the Jeep 69-62. Deion Edwards led Springs Valley with 24 points, hitting nine of his 16 shots from the field. He also had five rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block. Konner Chase was the other big scorer for the Blackhawks against Northeast Dubois, finishing with 14 points as well as five assists and three rebounds. Jaheim Hamilton had six points and led the team in rebounds with six and blocks with four, Mavrick Land had five points, Keaton Pritchett had four points, and the trio of Max Pendley, Christian Hamilton, and Larron Childers finished with three points apiece. Xander Cook had two rebounds and a steal. Springs Valley (5-10, 3-3 PLAC) has now lost three games in a row. The Blackhawks will return to action on Friday at Eastern (Pekin).
