The Springs Valley boys’ basketball team put its struggles aside on Saturday, breaking its losing streak with a 58-56 victory over Tell City on the road. The Blackhawks trailed 27-14 at halftime, then only cut their deficit by one point in the third quarter, but still managed to complete the comeback thanks to a dominant fourth quarter. In the game’s final period, they outscored the Marksmen 25-11. Deion Edwards led the charge, dropping a team-high 25 points. That would be one half of his fifth career double-double as he also recorded a team-high 12 rebounds, establishing a new career high. Valley also got nine points each from Keaton Pritchett and Jaheim Hamilton, six points from Konner Chase, five points from Christian Hamilton, three points from Mavrick Land, and one point from Larron Childers. Max Pendley had a rebound, an assist, and a steal. Xander Cook had three rebounds. Springs Valley (6-11, 3-3 PLAC) will try to build on this win when it travels to Borden on Saturday, Feb. 4.
