Blackhawk softball falls at Southridge

The Springs Valley softball team traveled to Huntingburg on Tuesday, falling to Southridge 10-3. The Raiders took the lead early, scoring a run in the second and then three more in the third. They’d score in every inning after the first. Springs Valley’s runs came late with two in the fifth and one in the sixth. Lily Hickman pitched all six innings for the Blackhawks, allowing eight earned runs on 10 hits. She also struck out four batters and walked five. At the plate the sophomore had two of Springs Valley’s three hits in her three at-bats. She finished with a double, a run batted in, and a walk. Lola Pantoja also had a hit for the Blackhawks and drove in a run. Emri Allen, Molly Tucker, and Tynley Kluesner each scored a run. Kluesner, Tucker, and Karson Dalton each drew a walk and Kaylee McNeely drew two walks. Springs Valley (1-1) will return to action on Monday, traveling to Leopold for its Patoka Lake Athletic Conference opener against Perry Central.
