Springs Valley Community High School

The Springs Valley track and field team traveled to Mitchell on Thursday for a three-team meet against the Bluejackets and Shoals. The Blackhawks took both the boys’ and girls’ meet running away. The boys racked up 96 points to top Mitchell’s 38 and Shoals’ 11. The girls posted a team score of 88 to beat Mitchell’s 40 and Shoals’ 6. The Blackhawk girls had a few multi-event winners at Mitchell. Macie Mayhew took first place in the long jump at 14-6 as well as in the 300-meter hurdles at 54.62 seconds. Sophie Harris swept the mile and two–mile, recording times of 6:23.28 and 13:41.84 respectively. Sarah Drabing swept the throwing events with a shot put of 30-10 and a discus throw of 102-5. Brynne Buchanan won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.69 seconds, Miya Campbell won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.63 seconds, and Kinsey Saliba won the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.53. Springs Valley also won all of the relay events. Christian Hamilton and Ezra Mills led the way for the Blackhawk boys, winning three events each. Hamilton won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.34 seconds, the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 43.28 seconds, and the long jump with a measurement of 20-10. Mills won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.46 seconds, the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.50 seconds, and the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.71 seconds. Larron Childers also won multiple events, placing first in the discus at 134-7 and in the shot put at 39-6.25. Springs Valley swept the distance events too. Alan Marshall won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.53, Grant Brown won the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:43.17, and Andre Ayres won the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:17.41. The Blackhawks won each of the relays on the boys’ side of the meet as well. Springs Valley will be back in action on Tuesday, traveling to Paoli to square off with the Rams as well as Mitchell.
