Through three and a half innings, the Springs Valley baseball team led Class 1A No. 9 Barr-Reeve. A two-run double from Braylon Kovas cracked the Blackhawks' lead open to 4-1 in the second inning, then two innings later Jonas Hammond and Konner Chase had back-to-back RBI hits to make it 6-2. That sixth run would be the final one for Springs Valley though. From the bottom of the fourth through the sixth inning, Barr-Reeve put up 14 unanswered runs, defeating the Blackhawks 16-6. Cole Kovas got the start on the mound for the Blackhawks. He went three innings and allowed six runs, just two earned, on five hits. He struck out two and walked three. Hunter Thomas got the ball next, finishing with zero runs and zero hits allowed. A single walk was the lone blemish on his statline. Braylon Kovas closed the game for Valley, pitching the final inning and change. He allowed 10 runs, five earned, one seven hits and three walks. Defensively, the Blackhawks had 11 errors. Springs Valley (1-5, 0-1 PLAC) will try to snap its four-game losing streak on Friday when it hosts county rival Orleans.
