Blackhawk track wallops Paoli, Mitchell in three-team meet

The Springs Valley track and field teams continued their hot streak on Tuesday, competing against Paoli and Mitchell at Paoli. The boys easily outpaced their competition, scoring 95 points compared to Paoli’s 31 and Mitchell’s 29. The girls also ran away with the meet with a team score of 71 points compared to Paoli’s 39 and Mitchell’s 37. James Walls had a strong meet for the Blackhawks. He took first place in the high jump, clearing a height of 5-10, then also won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.59 and helped win the 400-meter relay as well. Christian Hamilton also won multiple events, taking the long jump and the 200-meter dash. Larron Childers swept the throws, winning both the shot put and the discus. Jaheim Hamilton won the 300-meter hurdles and Ezra Mills took the 100-meter dash. Springs Valley’s distance squad starred again as well with Max Pendley finishing first in the 800-meter run, Alan Marshall taking the 1600-meter run, and Grant Brown winning the 3200-meter run. The Blackhawks also won the 3200-meter relay. Miya Campbell and Sophie Harris led the way for the Valley girls. Campbell won both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, recording times of 13.50 seconds and 23.89 seconds respectively. Harris won both the 1600-meter run and the 3200-meter run with times of 6:21 and 13:45 respectively. The Blackhawks’ other individual winners included Sarah Drabing in the discus and Ella Meehan in the shot put. They also won the 3200-meter and 400-meter relays. The Blackhawks will run next on Thursday, heading to Bedford to compete against Bedford North Lawrence, Eastern Greene, and Mitchell.
