Springs Valley baseball can't keep up with county rival Orleans

The Springs Valley baseball team hosted Orange County rival Orleans on Friday, falling 8-2. The Bulldogs scored five runs in the first two innings and the Blackhawks fought back in the bottom of the second, scoring a pair of runs, but that’s where the comeback attempt would end. Kaden Dunn got the start on the mound for the Blackhawks, pitching two innings. He gave up five runs, all earned, on five hits, two walks, and two hit batters. Mavrick Land took over after that, pitching a solid four innings in relief. He gave up just one run, which was earned, on two hits. Land struck out four and walked three. Cole Kovas was next to the mound. He got one out while allowing two earned runs. Braylon Kovas finished the game for the ‘Hawks, facing two batters and striking out both on just nine pitches. Jonas Hammond had the biggest hit of the night for the Blackhawks, a towering home run over the left-field fence to lead off the second inning. Konner Chase picked up a pair of hits, scored a run, and stole a base. Cole Kovas also went 2-3 with a stolen base. Henry Cruz went 1-4 with a double. Mavrick Land also had a hit. Noah Allstott drew a walk. As a team the Blackhawks left seven runners on base and struck out 10 times. Springs Valley (1-6, 1-2 PLAC) will try to break its five-game losing streak on Monday when it hosts Wood Memorial.
