One big inning cost the Springs Valley softball team on Monday. The Blackhawks were dominant for much of their game against Loogootee, but allowing the Lions to score three runs in the third inning ultimately sunk them as they lost 3-2. The Blackhawks scored their two runs on just two hits, one apiece from Ashlyn Bonta and Karson Dalton. Those two also had one run batted in each. Springs Valley’s other base runners were Brynne Buchanan, who drew a walk, Lola Pantoja, who was hit by a pitch, and Lily Hickman and Emri Allen who both reached on an error. Dalton and Buchanan also stole one base each. Hickman was in the circle for the Blackhawks. She threw all seven innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits. She also walked five, struck out eight, and hit two batters with a pitch. Springs Valley (3-5, 2-1 PLAC) will now get a bit of a break before traveling to Eastern (Pekin) on Monday, April 24.
