The Springs Valley baseball team continued its skid on Saturday, hosting South Central (Elizabeth) and losing 15-5. The Blackhawks trailed just 3-2 after two innings, but three runs in the third would help the Rebels break away and three runs each in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings would seal the deal. Noah Allstott was the lone Blackhawk with multiple hits in the game. He went 3-4 with a double. Kaden Dunn picked up his first hit of the season with an RBI single late in the game. Konner Chase, Braylon Kovas, and Blake Buchanan also drove in one run each. Henry Cruz drew a pair of walks and scored a pair of runs. The Blackhawks also stole nine bases against the Rebels with Kovas, Cruz, and Keyon Jones swiping two apiece. Mavrick Land, Dunn, and Jonas Hammond each had one stolen base. Kovas got the start on the mound for Springs Valley and went two innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits and three walks. He struck out two. Landon Weeks followed him and went 2.1 innings, allowing six runs, four earned, on four hits and five walks. He struck out three. Tanner Phillips pitched the next two innings and allowed six runs, three of which were earned. He allowed one hit, but walked four. He also struck out three. Dunn closed the game, getting two outs without allowing a run. He allowed just one hit. Springs Valley (5-10, 2-3 PLAC) has now lost four games in a row and five of its last six. As a team, the Blackhawks committed eight errors in the field. The Blackhawks will try to rebound on Tuesday when they travel to Mitchell for a non-conference matchup with the Class 2A No. 3 Bluejackets.
