The Springs Valley baseball team traveled to Seymour on Saturday to take on Trinity Lutheran. The Blackhawks fell to the Cougars, losing 6-3. Trinity Lutheran dominated early, scoring two runs apiece in the first, second, and third innings to take a 6-0 lead. The Blackhawks would battle from there, but the hole proved too deep as they mustered only three runs. Springs Valley’s three hits on the day came from three different players. Jonas Hammond went 1-3 with a double and drove in a run, Mavrick Land went 1-2 and was hit by a pitch, and Braylon Kovas went 1-3 with two runs batted in. Other base runners included Kaden Dunn on a hit by pitch, Noah Allstott on a pair of walks, Konner Chase on a walk, and Henry Cruz on a walk. Allstott, Cruz, and Chase had one stolen base each. Landon Weeks got the start for Springs Valley on the mound and pitched two-plus innings. He allowed six runs, four earned, on five hits, two walks, and a hit by pitch. He struck out three batters. Tanner Phillips relieved him and pitched well. Over the final 3.1 innings, the sophomore allowed just one hit and no runs while walking one and striking out two. Springs Valley (6-13, 2-4 PLAC) will attempt to bounce back from the loss on Monday when it hosts Orange County rival Paoli.
