The Springs Valley softball team kept rolling on Saturday as it hosted Clarksville. The Blackhawks started well enough, scoring four runs in the first three innings, but then they exploded for 14 in the fourth to break the game open, eventually winning 18-1. Lily Hickman was strong in the circle, pitching four innings and allowing just one run on two hits and a walk. She also struck out seven. Maci Eckerty pitched the final inning, walking one and striking out two. Hickman also stayed hot at the plate, extending both her hitting streak and her RBI streak to five games. She went 1-2 with a double, an RBI, and two walks. Brynne Buchanan had a good game at the plate as well, going 1-3 with a walk and three stolen bases. Tynley Kluesner went 1-3 with two RBI and a walk. Karson Dalton went 1-2 with two RBI and two walks. Ashlyn Bonta drove in three runs despite going hitless. Kaylee McNeely broke a cold spell at the plate, slapping a double as she went 1-2. Springs Valley also hot a hit from Paige Sylvester in her one plate appearance. Eckerty, Emri Allen, and Bostyn Rowlett stole one base each. Skylan Emmons, Bonta, and McNeely were all hit by a pitch. Lola Pantoja was hit by two pitches. Springs Valley (9-6, 5-1 PLAC) is red hot, having won its last five in a row and seven of its last nine after starting the season with a 2-4 record. Six of the Blackhawks’ seven games with nine or more runs scored have come since April 19 and their average margin of victory over their last five games is nine runs. They’ll try to continue that level of play on Wednesday when they host Pike Central. BLACKHAWKS 18, GENERALS 1 Clarksville (3-14);000;10—1;2;6 Springs Valley (9-6);112;14X—18;6;1 W: Hickman.
