The Springs Valley baseball team played host to sectional rival Northeast Dubois on Wednesday, losing 7-4. The Blackhawks battled with the Jeeps early, taking a 3-1 lead in the third inning after trailing 1-0 early. The Jeeps tied the game in the top of the fourth, then a three-run sixth inning would provide the cushion they needed to take the win. Keyton Jones went 2-3 with an RBI. Blake Buchanan and Noah Allstott also had one hit each. Jonas Hammond reached on a walk. Buchanan, Chase, and Landon Farris each had a stolen base. Chase got the start on the mound for Springs Valley, going 5.2 innings and throwing 89 pitches. The junior allowed five earned runs, six in total, on six hits and two walks. He struck out four. Braylon Kovas got an out to end the sixth, allowing an earned run on two hits and two walks before ending his outing. Tanner Phillips pitched the final inning, not allowing a single base runner. Springs Valley (6-14, 2-4 PLAC) will return to action on Thursday, hosting Cannelton for Cruz’s senior night.
