The Springs Valley track and field team traveled to Paoli on Tuesday to compete in the Orange County Meet. Without key contributors both the boys and girls finished second as Orleans edged the boys by five points and the girls by two. The girls were led by their throwers, who swept the top four spots in both disciplines. Ella Meehan won the shot put with a throw of 33-11, followed by Sarah Drabing, Aubrey Bledsoe, and Leigh Carnes in that order. Carnes won the discus with a measurement of 95-9, followed by Meehan, Jordyn Land, and Drabing respectively. Springs Valley also got a win from Macie Mayhew in the 300-meter hurdles. She took first place by nearly three seconds, finishing with a time of 54.29. Sophie Harris also picked up a pair of wins for the Blackhawks, sweeping the 1600- and 3200-meter runs with times of 6:05 and 13:52. The boys got their first win in the 4x800-meter relay with … teaming up to run a 9:12. Jaheim Hamilton stayed hot, sweeping both hurdles events. The junior took the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 16.69 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles in 43.91 seconds. Evan Baker was Valley’s only other winner. The sophomore placed first in the 100-meter dash at 12.20.
