Softball 'Hawks fall to Corydon Central

The Springs Valley softball team played host to Class 3A No. 12 Corydon Central on Monday, falling 12-0. The Panthers put up five runs in the first inning and didn’t look back, tacking on another in the second and then six more in the fourth. Springs Valley mustered two hits in the game. One was a double from Tynley Kluesner, the other a single from Emri Allen. The Blackhawks didn’t draw a walk and struck out seven times in five innings. Lily Hickman threw three innings for the Blackhawks, allowing three earned runs — six total — on six hits, three walks, and two hit batters. She also struck out a pair. Molly Tucker pitched a scoreless inning despite walking two batters. Maci Eckerty also pitched an inning, allowing three earned runs and six total on six hits and two walks. Springs Valley (9-9, 5-1 PLAC) will return to action on Thursday, hosting Salem for senior night. The next evening, the Blackhawks will host Orleans in their regular-season finale.
