Springs Valley baseball falls at Perry Central

After back-to-back wins over Cannelton and West Washington in the last week, the Springs Valley baseball team couldn’t grab a third to form a streak on Thursday as it traveled to Perry Central. The Blackhawks fell behind the Commodores early, allowing six runs in the second inning, and were never able to recover as they fell 8-5. Springs Valley’s offensive production was balanced against Perry Central, with each of its four hits and five runs coming from different players. Braylon Kovas went 1-3 with an RBI, Noah Allstott went 1-3 with an RBI, Kaden Dunn went 1-4 with a run scored and so did Henry Cruz. The Blackhawks also got an RBI from Konner Chase. Jonas Hammond drew a pair of walks in four plate appearances. Blake Buchanan also drew two walks. Allstott, Chase, Landon Farris, Mavrick Land, and Tanner Phillips also drew one walk each. Springs Valley also had six strikeouts in the game. Chase got the start on the mound for the Blackhawks and eventually took the loss. He went 1.2 innings, allowing seven runs – six earned – on three hits and six walks. He struck out two. Landon Weeks relieved Chase, throwing 1.1 innings of shutout baseball while allowing just one hit. He walked three and struck out one. Phillips took the ball next, throwing two innings. He gave up one earned run on one hit and walked three. Landon Farris finished the game, throwing the final inning without allowing a run. He did give up a hit. Springs Valley (8-15, 2-4 PLAC) will be back in action on Friday when it travels to Orleans.
