The Springs Valley softball team snapped its three-game losing streak on Thursday, taking down Salem 11-4 at home. The Blackhawks honored their seniors ahead of the clash and the class delivered in its penultimate home game. Bostyn Rowlett went 3-4 with a double and two runs batted in, Ashlyn Bonta went 2-2 with a triple and an RBI, and Emri Allen went 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored to lead the way. Springs Valley also got contributions from Brynne Buchanan, who went 1-4 and scored a run, and Tynley Kluesner, who went 1-4 with a run scored and the team’s only stolen base in the game. Lola Pantoja also reached base, doing so by getting hit with a pitch. The sophomore class also had a huge night for Springs Valley against Salem. Lily Hickman was superb, going 2-2 with two home runs, two runs batted in, and two walks at the plate while also going seven innings in the circle, allowing only three earned runs on six hits and four walks. She also struck out five batters. Kaylee McNeely was pivotal as well. She went 1-3, hitting a home run and driving in five runs to help fuel the Blackhawks’ offensive surge. Springs Valley (10-9, 5-1 PLAC) brought its record back above .500 with the victory, giving itself a shot at a winning season. With a win on Friday against ORleans, the Blackhawks can guarantee that they’ll have a winning season.
