The Springs Valley softball team’s state tournament run came to an end on Thursday as it fell 11-0 to Class 1A No. 1 Tecumseh. Five first-run innings for the Braves set the tone for the matchup, as the game would end in six innings. Three of the Blackhawks’ five total hits came from Tynley Kluesner. The senior ended her career on an individual high note, going 3-3 at the plate. She was also the lone Blackhawk to not strike out against Tecumseh. Springs Valley’s other two hits came from Lily Hickman and Karson Dalton, one apiece. Hickman did the pitching for the Blackhawks, allowing six earned runs in six innings. She struck out two, walked three, gave up 12 hits, and got tagged with the loss. Springs Valley (12-10, 5-1 PLAC) closed its season with the loss, finishing with double-digit wins for the third straight season. That’s quite the feat given that the Blackhawks had won just 17 games total in the five seasons from 2015 to 2019. This season also saw the ‘Hawks win their first Patoka Lake Athletic Conference championship since 2011 and their fifth all-time.
